Why is India rich but many Indians still struggle?
India’s economic paradox is explained through the gap between its large total GDP and its much lower GDP per capita. The video shows why a country can rank high in nominal GDP while many citizens still face limited income, weak savings, unemployment, education gaps, healthcare challenges, and uneven access to opportunity. Population size, low productivity, skill shortages, slow technology adoption, and structural inefficiencies are presented as major reasons behind the low income per person. Possible solutions include moving more rural workers into productive urban jobs, improving agriculture incomes, investing in infrastructure, and strengthening sectors such as electronics, chemicals, textiles, auto goods, and pharmaceuticals. These points present India’s growth challenge as not only about becoming a larger economy, but also about raising everyday incomes, improving quality of life, reducing brain drain, and making development reach individual citizens.
